The time is counting down to the new academic year 2023-2024, and the phones in the relevant departments of the universities are on fire, whether for information on registrations, whether to reserve a place, or about the teaching program of the first years. The picture of how the first-year students will be divided in the universities will become clear by the end of the month, since, according to the Ministry of Education, by the end of August, the candidates in Cyprus are expected to know what place they have secured in the higher educational institutions of Greece (the candidates are estimated at around 3 thousand). Below are the entries. In particular, until the middle of September the deadline for registration of those who secured a place in the higher educational institutions of Greece expires, in the period 28-1 September is the week of information and registration at TEPAK and on 1 September (9:30-12:30) for the University of Cyprus. For private universities, at least in Cyprus, the registration deadline differs for each.

In any case, September is a crucial month for new students, since by then, it is assumed that they will have chosen the school of their choice and will be preparing to attend the first courses to secure the degree. It is recalled that in this year's Pan-Cypriot Entrance Examinations, 5,250 candidates claimed access to Higher and Higher Education in Cyprus and Greece. In the first allocation, 2,974 places were allocated, of which 1,689 at the University of Cyprus, 1,185 at TEPAK and 100 at the Military Schools of Greece. The most popular departments are medicine, psychology, business administration. Every first-year student has a multitude of options in front of him, either in Cyprus or abroad, and the ranking systems of the universities as analytical tools to reach their final decision. There are many options for every first-year student, either in Cyprus or abroad.

What is emphasized both by the Ministry of Education and by institutions of higher education is the development and upgrading of higher education in Cyprus in recent years, with Cypriot universities being valuable options for Cypriot and foreign students. From the Ministry's point of view, the priority for improving the quality of higher education in Cyprus and the role of the quality certifications received by the higher education institutions of Cyprus, which are now ranked in the lists of international ranking organizations, are emphasized in this effort. It is noted that, according to data from the Ministry of Education, the number of students for the academic year 2021-2022 was over 60 thousand, with 47% being Cypriots, 35% coming from EU countries and 18% from third countries countries, evidence that demonstrates progress in the effort to achieve the goal of Cyprus becoming an educational center, a center of research and innovation excellence.
