The importance of the service sector for the Cypriot economy, the uncollected fines imposed by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CCC) and debt settlement were among the topics discussed by the President and Vice-President of the CCP, in a meeting on Friday with the President House of Representatives, Annita Dimitriou.

According to an announcement from the Office of the Speaker of Parliament, an exchange of views and suggestions was held on issues related to the mission and responsibilities of the ECC. In particular, it was discussed, among other things, issues concerning the supervisory groups, the challenges faced by the ECC, the prospects for market development, especially in the application of innovative technologies, as well as the situation of non-collection fines imposed by the Commission and debt settlements which it makes under specific conditions.

For her part, the Speaker of Parliament stressed the importance of the work that the ECC has to perform, especially taking into account the importance of the service sector for the Cypriot economy, as well as the effective supervision of this sector. He also referred to the great challenges that the ECC has to face, while emphasizing the need to apply innovative technologies, especially in the conditions that have been created due to the pandemic, he added.
