For the first time “Commercialization of Research Results Award”

The submission of nominations has begun for the Cyprus Research Awards 2023. An iconic annual institution, through which, for the 16th consecutive year, the Research and Innovation Foundation (IRC), honors and highlights the work of young and distinguished scientists of the country, promoting excellence and encouraging the expansion of research and innovative activity in Cyprus.

In particular, the “Distinguished Researcher” and “Young Researcher” Awards will be given again this year, while for the first time, the İDEK announces the new “Commercialization of Research Results” Award, key to the connection between scientific research and the real economy, and for which purpose the IdEK now offers a comprehensive portfolio of programs and services.

Prospective researchers should be nominated by another person and will be evaluated based on information that they will be asked to submit to the İDEK and which will be related to their research work, their achievements and their impact.

The deadline for Nominations has been set on June 30, 2023, 1:00 p.m., while the relevant invitations with information on the conditions and the participation procedure are available on the IRIS portal. It is noted that there is no limit to the number of candidates that can be nominated by a person or body.

“Cyprus Research Award – Distinguished Researcher 2023”

It is awarded to outstanding scientists with research experience of more than 7 years since obtaining their PhD who have demonstrated recent, significant and internationally recognized achievements in the field of research. For the year 2023, the awarding of the Prize concerns the thematic section of Life Sciences.

“Cyprus Research Award – New Researcher 2023”

Awarded to young scientists with less than 7 years of experience since obtaining a PhD, who have demonstrated high-quality research activity in one of the following subject areas: Life Sciences, Natural Sciences and Engineering, Social Sciences and Humanities. The winners of each section will be granted a grant of €60,000 for the purpose of continuing their research. em>.

“Cyprus Award for Commercialization of Research Results 2023”

Awarded to a young scientist (up to 7 years obtaining a PhD), who has demonstrated successful commercial exploitation of his/her research results in the field of Life Sciences or Natural Sciences and Engineering or Social & Humanities. The winner will be awarded a grant of €60,000, to carry out research and development activities (TRL 4-8) with the aim of improving the commercial readiness of the specific research.
