The Cyprus Supermarkets Association requests the operation of additional slaughterhouses in Cyprus in a letter sent to the chairman of the Agriculture Committee of the Parliament, Andreas Kafkalias.
The association claims that after the recent events concerning the Cypra slaughterhouse, the gap that exists in terms of meat adequacy in the market has emerged, with the operation of only three slaughterhouses in Cyprus. It is now, according to the letter of the supermarket association, an urgent need for a discussion between those in charge in order to encourage the operation of new units that will cover geographically the whole of Cyprus.
