The deficit of the trade balance amounted to €7,101.0 million in 2022 according to data published on Wednesday by the Statistical Service.

The main trading partner in the imports of Cyprus for 2022 was Greece, while the main trading partner in the exports of domestic products was Lebanon.

Specifically, it states that the total imports of goods (from EU Member States and from third countries) in 2022 amounted to €11,290.0 million, while the total exports of goods (to EU Member States and to third countries) were €4,189, 0 cm.

At the same time, the share of intra-EU imports for the year 2022 rose to 60.8% compared to 65.1% in 2021, while the share of imports from third countries increased to 39.2% compared to 34.9% in 2021 .Intra-EU exports fell to 26.0% in 2022 compared to 27.4% in 2021, while exports to third countries reached 74.0% in 2022 compared to 72.6% in 2021.

As regards the share of domestic product exports in total exports, it reached 39.6% in 2022 compared to 42.9% in 2021.

The main trading partners in Cyprus imports for 2022 were Greece (€2,640.9 million), Italy (€1,183.9 million), China (€898.2 million), Israel (€835 .9 million) and Germany (€600.5 million), while the main trade partners in domestic product exports were Lebanon (€287.3 million), the United Kingdom (€204.8 million), Greece (€121.0m) and Israel (€81.6m)

The main share of imports for local consumption by economic destination was consumer goods with 29.2%, followed by intermediate goods and raw materials (eg cereals, building iron) with 28.3% and transport equipment with 21.4%.

Industrial products of manufacturing origin with 38.9% constituted the main part of exports of products of domestic origin followed by industrial products of mineral origin with 32.5% and industrial products of agricultural origin with 22.6%.

Besides, the main products imported into Cyprus in the year 2022 were fossil fuels and oils (€2,626.5 million), ships (€1,302.4 million), electrical machines, devices, materials (€630.4 million). ), cars, other vehicles and parts (€626.0 million), other machines, boilers, devices and their parts (€580.9 million).

The main products of domestic origin exported from Cyprus in the year 2022 were fossil fuels and oils (€455.9 million), pharmaceutical products (€336.5 million), halloumi (€284.5 million), waste and scrap (from paper, glass and metals) (€87.0 million) and potatoes (€42.4 million)
