The upgrade works of Rigainis Street started yesterday, the Municipality of Nicosia states in an announcement.
He notes that the road is closed to wheeled vehicles and traffic regulations have been made and adds that the intention of the Municipality is to make full use of the lockdown period, for the least possible inconvenience to shopkeepers and citizens.
He also states that the overall project concerns Rigainis and Vassilios Voulgaroktonou streets.
He notes that the main goal, especially for Rigainis Street, is to increase traffic and the comfortable and safe movement of visitors in the shops of the street.
He states that the works of the project include: Reconstruction of the road with one lane, with parking spaces only for catering vehicles, Creation of new, wider sidewalks which will be level with the road, Installation of underground fiber optic network of the Municipality of Lefko for support of “smart city” systems, such as intelligent vehicle parking management system, environmental data collection, Wi – Fi installation, etc., and Upgrading of the rainwater harvesting network.
He notes that after the completion of the above works, the Municipality will proceed with the announcement of the offer for the second phase of the project that concerns the restoration / landscaping of the facades of the buildings on Rigainis and Vassilios Voulgaroktonou streets.
According to him, new urban lighting will be installed at the same time, while flowerbeds with trees and ornamental plants will be placed along the streets.
The Municipality of Nicosia notes, finally, that it looks forward to the understanding and cooperation of the affected citizens and at the same time urges the drivers to follow the course proposed by the on-site vertical signs.
