Ο θερμοτεροσ &Iota ;ολιοσσλιματοογικor ιστ οεισοοσ Meteorology <p>This year's July was the warmest July in the climatic history of Cyprus, with the sole exception of the mountainous areas, the Department of Meteorology states in its announcement, noting that the parameter that contributed to this record was the many warm nights of the month.</p> <p>According to the data, July saw a record number of nights with daytime minimum temperatures above the yellow risk level for extremely high minimum temperatures.</p> <p>According to statistics released by the Department of Meteorology on Wednesday, Athalassa Station recorded a total of 16 days when an extreme maximum temperature warning was in effect, ranking the station third after 2020, when there were a total of 20 days with a warning in effect. and in 2021 and 2023, when there were a total of 18 days with notice.</p> <p>Also, at Athalassa Station, the 2nd record for consecutive days with a warning in effect was recorded, with a total of 10 consecutive days, after 2023 when a record was recorded for a total of 16 consecutive days with warnings in effect.</p> <p>However, as regards for daily minimum temperatures, July 2024 ranks 1st, with a total of 13 nights where there was an extreme minimum high temperature warning in place, followed by 1988 and 2000 with 10 nights and 2009 with 9 nights with warning in effect.</p> <p>In terms of the number of consecutive nights with an extreme minimum high temperature warning in effect, 2009 ranks 1st with 9 consecutive nights, while July 2024 ranks 4th with 4 consecutive nights.</p> <p>Regarding the reference station at Larnaca airport, according to the Department of Meteorology, in July 2024 14 nights were recorded with a warning in force for the minimum temperatures, while July 2023 follows with 10 such nights. In addition, 4 consecutive nights with a warning in effect were recorded, which ranks July 2024 in 2nd place, after July 2023 (5 consecutive nights with a warning).</p> <p>Finally, regarding the airport reference station Pafos, the Department of Meteorology reports that this year's July records a first in terms of the total number of nights with a warning in force, with 14 nights, while 6 consecutive nights with a warning were also recorded, compared to July 2023 and 2021, when they were recorded 7 nights with warning, with the number this year being double that, and with 4 and 2 consecutive nights with warning, respectively.</p> <p><noindex></p> <div class=Source: politis.com.cy
