Georgos Asiikalishas 39 years of experience in the Cyprus Electricity Authority and the Cyprus Transmission System Operator with the main subject of his professional employment in the Supervisory Control Systems of the Electricity System, the management of Labor Relations and the Human Resources Directorate in the Electricity Authority and the Operation Directorate of the Electricity Transmission System to the Cyprus Transmission System Operator.
His academic qualifications include:
– Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering – BSc(Hons) from the University of Manchester (1980),
– Postgraduate PGCert in Engineering Management with specialization in Project Management from the Joint Board for Engineering Management – UK (1987),
– Master in Business Administration – MBA from CIIM (1997) and
– MSc in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from the London School of Economics (1998).
He holds the professional titles Chartered Engineer, Chartered Manager, Chartered Fellow CIPD, MCMI, MIET and Eur Ing. He holds a 1st Class Electrical Engineering Certificate from the Electromechanical Service. He is also an Honorary Member and Fellow of the Cyprus Association of Human Resources Management.
He has extensive experience in the European Social Dialogue, as a member of the Employer's group of the Electricity Industry (Expert Advisor) in the meetings with the European Commission and the Trade Union Federations of the European Workers. He was also a Member of the Labor Advisory Body. He has participated in the 88th Session of the International Labor Organization in Geneva (ILO Convention) as an Adviser to the Federation of Employers and Industrialists.
He was a Member of the System Operation Committee of the European Network of Electricity Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E), Assoc. Member of the General Assembly of ENTSO-E, Rep. Member of the General Assembly of the Mediterranean Electricity Transmission System Operators (Med-TSO), Coordinator of the ENTSO-E Regional Isolated Electricity Networks Group, Member of the Working Group of Economic Studies and Scenarios of the Mediterranean Electricity Transmission System Operators and Member of the Working Group for the Preparation of Regulations of of Mediterranean Electricity Transmission System Operators.
He was a Member of the Membership Registration Committee, Chairman of the Continuing Education Committee and Chairman of the Legislation Review, Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning Committee of ETEK. Also, Vice-President of the Cyprus Association of Human Resources Management, Member of the IEE Committee (Cyprus Centre) and Vice-President of the Association of Parents of the English School. He has been a Speaker at 16 International Conferences and President at 4 others. He has taught the Industrial Relations course in 2022-2023 and as a Guest Speaker in the Masters in Business Administration and MSc in Human Resource Management Programs at the University of Cyprus in the years 2021-2022-2023. From 2023 he teaches the Industrial Relations course in the postgraduate program MSc in Human Resource Management and Strategy at CIM Cyprus Business School as a Visiting Lecturer.
