The Youth Makerspace celebrated 5 years of operation

With great success, on Saturday 20 May, Youth Makerspace celebrated 5 years of operation and service to youth, organizing the first MakersFair festival in Cyprus.

Based on the Makers Movement, the technology festival included various interactive STEAM workshops and was open to the general public as well as professional and amateur makers.

The festival was attended and honored by in the presence of PtD Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis, who thanked the Cyprus Youth Organization for this excellent center, and as he stated “we must bring our young people close to technology, direct them towards new professions”.

< p>In his turn, the President of ONEK, Kleanthis Koutsoftas, expressed his enthusiasm by stating that, “Makerspace has managed to establish itself as a space that inspires and promotes creativity, innovation and collaboration between professionals, experts and young people, with a will to learn and creation”.

The Deputy Executive Director of ONEK, Maria Miltiadou gave a review with references to the establishment and operation of Makerspace as well as projects that marked its activity while the Mayor of Larnaca Andreas Vyras mentioned in the collaboration of Larnaca with ONEK for the implementation of the program.

The festival was also enriched by inspiring speeches from professionals in the field of technology, with topics such as 3D printing and virtual reality. The 'Makers Fair' aspires to offer the local community the opportunity to foster meaningful dialogue and become a magnet for ideas.
