Theological School of the Church of Cyprus… modern look at eternal topics

< p>The Theological School of the Church of Cyprus (THSEK) is only in its 7th year of operation, after its establishment in 2015, already having in its assets important local and international recognitions and collaborations. At the same time, it is evolving into an educational organization with a developed social footprint and action.

Features that give the school its identity

Η Θ.Σ.Ε.Κ. is a very small academic organization in relation to the sizes in the field of higher education of & nbsp; Cyprus. This enables it to operate flexibly, with a dynamic team of executives, and to maintain a level of human relationships that are highly interpersonal and enjoyable, enhancing its academic success. The ratio of teachers to students is almost unbeatable. This provides the opportunity for personal care and attention of students and generally all members of the academic community of THSEK, the ability to identify and manage problems in their birth, and enhance students and their well-being on a personal level. Students of both undergraduate and postgraduate levels are part of & nbsp; volunteer groups or working groups, collaborate in research programs and applications, are a vital factor in the development of the Foundation. All this with an emphasis on interpersonal interaction. Thus, an identity of the School is formed, which focuses on the human being and the value of the human face.

TH.S.E.K. Pulse Meets and Meets the Demands and Increased Needs of Modern Society

Universities should not be inaccessible ivory towers, but should have their gates open and listen to the needs of society locally and internationally. The offered MS of the Theological School have been designed with this social responsibility in mind. On this debt is based, after all, the vision of the School, which is, on the one hand to train executives who will serve the church and society, on the other hand to fill gaps or upgrade existing services related to society and mental health./p>

For example, MPS students have the opportunity, either as part of an internship or during the preparation of their dissertation, to be actively involved with various social organizations, contributing substantially to their work. Indicatively, the participation of students in programs and services of the Cyprus Red Cross (“Immigration: The story of Flax and Flora”, Psychosocial Support Service “Let's talk”) and the Central Social Solidarity Service of Tamassos is mentioned. The social contribution of the School extends beyond the PS, to many other socially oriented activities (eg open lectures on a variety of topics with speakers from Cyprus and abroad, regular student visits to the Nicosia Multipurpose Center for the musical entertainment of the guests of the Center, blood donations, environmental actions, etc.).

A sufficient number of students are also involved in research programs with a social dimension in which the School participates (eg SEMELI Program for the digital literacy of young prisoners). Special mention should be made, finally, of initiatives developed by the School during the pandemic period, such as the project “Counseling in Pandemic Time”, which was implemented by two postgraduate students under the supervision of Assoc. Professor Olga Solomontos-Kountouris, but also & nbsp; the program “Online Meetings of Love” which was implemented under the coordination of Assistant Professor Maria Pavlou and aimed at the distance interaction of infants and students with seniors and people with disabilities.

Lifelong Learning

At THSEK, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, a sufficient number of people study who chose to study or continue their studies at a more mature age and fall into the range of Lifelong Learning. They have the same opportunities and possibilities as their younger classmates, while at the same time they are provided with facilities to make their student experience as enjoyable and productive as possible.

What differentiates the Theological School of the Church of Cyprus

This School is a spiritual investment for the Church and the place. It is unique for the area of Cyprus. For the Christian area, it offers the uniqueness of Cyprus, an island with an important history and experience in relation to Christianity. It is logical that the courses have a reference point to the place and tradition of Cyprus. In this dimension, learning sometimes becomes experiential. This School wants to transfer the theological and ecclesiastical heritage of our place to executives who will love it, preserve it and pass it on.

Whoever follows the Gospel of Christ becomes a man who is constantly on the move, to improve himself and his world. The people want solid food and the Church has the experience of the centuries not only to cultivate its executives, but also to speak to the data of the people of Cyprus and the times.
