The programming of the Bi-Community Technical Committee of Cultural Heritage for the next period includes, among other things, projects in the cave of Agios Fanourios in the occupied community of Agios Georgios, Kyrenia , according to what the co-chairman of the Technical Committee, Sotos Ktoris, reported to KYPE.
Mr. Ktoris noted that in the region of Kyrenia District there is planning for a series of projects of the Bi-Community Technical Committee for Cultural Heritage, for the restoration and maintenance of monuments, some of which are in progress, while others are expected to start soon. He explained that projects for specific interventions in the area of the cave of Agios Fanourios have also been included in this planning.
Besides, the organized ensembles of the community of Agios Georgios of Kyrenia recently went on an official march to the Metropolitan of Kyrenia, expressing their request for the preservation of the religious monuments of the area.
Specifically , as both the President of the Community Council of Agios Georgios, Andreas Vassiliadis, and the President of the Refugee Association of Agios Georgios Kyrenia, Andris Chrysostomou, reported to KYPE, their requests to the Metropolis of Kyrenia, which is the legal owner of the Christian religious monuments of area, were sent last Monday, August 26, and the organized ensembles are awaiting a response from the Diocese.
