The resumption of the social events industry (weddings, engagements, baptisms, receptions) from April 16 is set as a time milestone by the Pancyprian Association of Professional Events (member of OEB).
At the same time, it informs the professionals in the industry, as well as the couples who have planned their wedding in 2021, that they are in contact with the Ministry of Health and the Scientific Advisory Committee, in order to facilitate the smooth and successful processing of all weddings – and others. – events planned. The president of PASYEPEK Konstantinos Mosaikos, speaking to “F”, referred to the financial problems faced by more than 10,000 professionals in the field of events, who are active in sectors such as catering, event organization, event management, event decoration / photography, event photography , sound and lighting professionals, stage constructions and supply of similar equipment, dj, bridal houses.
Giving the stigma of the next day, Mr. Mosaikos expressed fears that not everyone will be able to survive and some will be forced to close their businesses permanently. The event industry has always had, before the catastrophic pandemic, a dynamic in the period from March to November, with a turnover close to € 500 million, as the president of the association typically said. But now, he added, “revenue continues to fall and we do not know how many professionals will survive.” According to him, after May 1, which this year coincides with Easter, several weddings are expected and professionals in the field estimate that if everything goes smoothly there will be no -new- cancellations.

According to PASYEPEK, the guidelines that have been prepared, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, safeguard the observance of precautionary measures against the spread of the coronavirus during the organization of events for weddings, baptisms, dances, music, etc.
The resumption schedule of the events, with the number of people who will be able to attend, according to the Pancyprian Association, is: April 1-15: 75 people indoors, 150 people outdoors, dinner / lunch. April 16-30: 100 people indoors, 200 people outdoors. May 2021: dinner / lunch 350 people indoors / outdoors, cocktails for 250 people at any time. June 2021: Dinner / lunch for 500 people – outdoor / indoor, cocktail for 350 people at any time. July 2021: Lifting of all measures.
The couple and / or other customer will be required to hand over the guest list for dinner, for traceability purposes. It will be stored for at least 2 months. The usual greeting procedure in cases of wedding receptions (kiss – handshake) will not be allowed at this stage. The maximum number of seats will be 10 people per table. The tables should be located in such a way as not to create congestion. Indicatively, for outdoor areas, a minimum distance between the tables may be specified, according to the arrangement of the seats, as follows: , 70 meters. When in the space between two side tables a chair is placed in one of the two, then the minimum distance between them is set at 1.10 m.
