The further monitoring of the outbreak of the infection caused by the streptococcal A' microbe, which has occurred mainly in Britain, was discussed during today's meeting held between the Minister of Health, Michalis Hatzipantela and the Pediatric Society of Cyprus.
According to the Ministry of Health, during the meeting relevant decisions were made, such as sending of instructions-recommendations to Paediatricians, Personal Physicians and the Pancypriot Medical Association.
Also, it was decided that the competent services should proceed with efforts to secure a quantity of strep tests, which will be made available free of charge to paediatricians, while with the proposal of the Council of Ministers, a ceiling will be set for a maximum charge of five euros for the strep test.
Finally, it was decided to proceed with a weekly review to record the infections.
