Evidence of serious criminal cases was damaged by fire in the Limassol District Court, with the Police examining closed circuits and looking for two persons, who allegedly climbed a ladder and after entering the building through a window, which they violated, set fire to a specific room.
According to the head of TAE Limassol, Lefteris Kyriakou, patrols of ADE Limassol went to the scene after a phone call from a passing citizen who noticed smoke coming out of a window of the District Criminal Court, around 1.45 in the morning.
Members of the Fire Brigade extinguished the fire and “on-site examinations at the scene, by members of the Limassol TAE, testified that two people arrived at the place and placed a ladder on the outside of the court and after breaking a window set fire to a room space of documents and evidence, as well as the servers of the court “.
Asked about this, Mr. Kyriakou said that in this area were kept evidence concerning very serious cases, which are being tried by the Limassol Criminal Court and that “extensive damage has been caused to the contents of the warehouse.”
We expect, he continued, from the court registrar to inform us about exactly what the warehouse contained.
From the scene, in which the perpetrators left the ladder they used, various items were received for scientific examinations.
