Awaiting the meeting with the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulidis, is the Pancypriot Association of Gas Stationers, in order to raise with him the problems caused by the phenomenon of Greek Cypriots moving to the occupied territories for the supply of fuel. Speaking to “SPORT FM 95.0” and the show “DISTRIBUTING NEWS”, the press representative of the Association, Christodoulos Christodoulou, spoke of the “financial strangulation” of gas stations in the free areas, especially in Nicosia and Famagusta.

Mr. Christodoulou noted that the Association had held two meetings with Mr. Christodoulides when he was Minister of Foreign Affairs and his treatment was positive, expressing the hope that a solution to the issue will be found in the new meeting they will have. It is noted that the Association has already sent a letter, electronically and by hand, with which it requests a meeting with the President of the Republic.

In response to the question of whether there is an image of the damage to the gas stations, Mr. Christodoulou stated that during this time some of them cannot survive and are on the verge of closure. “Some are not making their operating expenses while the work of some others has decreased by more than 50%”.

Finally, Mr. Christodoulou argued that either financial support should be given by the government or someone else should be found. way to prevent citizens from getting fuel from the occupied territories, such as reducing fuel prices in the free areas.
