The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works with great satisfaction, as stated in a relevant announcement, expresses its satisfaction for reaching an agreement with the Limassol Port Terminal Container Manager, for imposing lower charges on the import and export of containers containing containers.
Specifically, in the announcement of the ministry, it is mentioned that the agreed charges are € 150 per 20-foot container and € 213 per 40-foot container. The general charges for handling the containers were € 214 per 20-foot container and € 328 per 40-foot container, with a reduction of € 64 and € 115 respectively. This agreement ensures the continuation of exports and imports of recyclable materials, bentonite and other cheap materials, which due to their sensitive value were significantly affected.
The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Mr. Giannis Karousos welcomes the agreement and thanked all parties for their constructive stance in the consultation, which led to the positive outcome. “The reduction of the reported charges has long been a priority of the Ministry and is a very important development at this time. The agreement reached solves another problem amid the pressure on the Cypriot economy, due to the increases caused by global inflation. “Realizing the difficulties, the Government will continue, with dedication, to take all actions for better and more economical service to the users of the Ports, the affected companies and especially the citizens”, says Mr. Karousos.
