“This country is ours”: Mr. Tsavousoglou to learn the Cyprus problem well

Must read

A letter to the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, and his Special Envoy, Jane Hall Luth, was sent by the Turkish platform “This country is ours”, stressing that the solution of two separate states does not represent the will of the Turkish Cypriots, recalling that the Turkish Cypriots in 2004 voted in favor of the ICC.

As reported in the occupied territories, today at noon a delegation of the platform delivered the letters to representatives of UNFICYP.

In a statement on behalf of the platform, the secretary of the teachers' union, Seener Elzil, noted that they revived this platform that was created in early 2000 and continue their contacts “to put the real political will of the Turkish Cypriots”. Mr. Elzil said that letters have also been sent to the President of the EP, the President of the Commission, the President of the European Council, the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council, the Turkish and Cypriot public opinion. He added that they do not adopt the statements on the Cyprus issue of the Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar and the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Tsavousoglu.

Sener Elzil urged Tsavousoglu to “learn the Cyprus problem well”, recalling that “the desire for a federation-based solution was first expressed by Turkey”.

Mr. Elzil said that as soon as the conditions with the coronavirus allow it, the platform “This country is ours” will be activated abroad with contacts and lobbies.

As reported in the Occupied Territories, the letter states that the platform, which consists of the guilds KTÖS, KTOEÖS, KTAMS, TÜRK-SEN, DEV-İŞ, KOOP-SEN, GÜÇ-SEN, BES, ÇAĞ-SEN, TIP-İŞ, BASIN -SEN, the parties RTK, KKDD, KEK, KNK and KKS, the Independent Road movement, represents the will of the Turkish Cypriot community.

Expresses concern at a permanent division in Cyprus and the growing tension in the region and states that the platform will work tirelessly to create the most conducive environment for the success of UN efforts.

The solution to be found in Cyprus, he added, must be based on UN Security Council resolutions, bi-zonal, bi-communal, based on political equality, with a sovereignty, a citizenship and an international personality, recalling that in the 2004 referendum the T / κ voted in this direction.

The reference to a two-state solution does not represent the will of the Turkish Cypriots, according to a letter from the platform calling on Lut to take the initiative in the UN decisions, based on the Guterres document, showing respect for the convergences in Crans Montana and Berlin and the talks to resume from where they left off.
