Professor of International Law, Dr. Nikolas Ioannidis is expected to be the first Deputy Minister of Immigration, as philenews revealed earlier.

This is his biography:

< p>Nicolas A. Ioannidis holds a PhD in Public International Law from the University of Bristol (2017).

During the academic period 2017-2018 he was a Nippon Foundation Fellow at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg.

He graduated from the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and received a postgraduate degree (LLM) in Public International Law from the University of Bristol.

He has taught Public International Law, International Humanitarian Law and European Law in academic institutions in Cyprus and abroad. He has been a legal advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairsfor issues of public international and European law. He has represented the Republic of Cyprus at the International Court of Justice in The Hague and in working groups of the Council of the European Union on the law of the sea and public international law.

In 2019 he was awarded by the Hellenic Society of International Law and International Relations for the best doctoral thesis in international law for the years 2017-2019. In 2020 he received an award from the International Union for the Law of the Sea for his academic article published in an international legal journal.

He has published one book (a second one is in progress) and several academic articles/chapters in international legal publications. He has been the President of the International and European Law Committee of the Pancypriot Bar Association.

He served in the Commando Forces of the National Guard and holds the rank of Reserve Lieutenant.
