The new Speaker of Parliament Annita Dimitriou, the first female Speaker in this position, was born in 1985 and hails from Larnaca and Famagusta Troullos. He has studied Social and Political Sciences at the University of Cyprus and postgraduate studies in International Relations and European Studies at the University of Kent in the United Kingdom.
He is a Member of Parliament for the Larnaca constituency of DISY. from June 2016 and served as Secretary of Parliament, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Equal Opportunities between Men and Women and the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Culture, Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Monitoring Development Plans and Controlling on behalf of the House of Representatives.
He was a Community Councilor of Troullon (2012-2016), Secretary of the local committee DISY. Troullon (2013-2015), Financial Manager of DISY. Larnaca (2014-2016) and Spokesperson of the Presidential candidate Nikos Anastasiadis in the 2018 presidential elections.
He is the Vice President of DISY. from February 2020.
