The Director General of the Cyprus Chamber of Shipping the first Approved Lobbyist in the Registry of Lobbyists of the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority
The Cyprus Shipping Chamber announced in a statement that its General Manager, Mr. Thomas A. Kazakos, is the first Lobbyist to be registered in the Lobbyist Registry of the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority.
The Chamber responded directly to the Authority's call from November 2023 for an application for registration in the relevant Register, wanting to support the establishment of a foundational framework and consolidation of transparency regarding public decision-making processes through lobbying.
In the announcement it is noted that this special recognition is a confirmation of the Maritime Chamber's continuous commitment to high standards of transparency, ethics and professionalism in the services it has been providing for 35 years to its Member Companies and Cyprus Shipping.
He also states that he expresses his sincere thanks to the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority for the approval and the initiative to institutionalize best practices in the field of lobbying, which will further strengthen transparency and integrity, principles which the Chamber has advocated since its establishment .
Finally, the Chamber encourages other Professional Associations as well as more individual lobbying consulting firms to register in order to widely implement the recently approved law on lobbyists, thus projecting a positive image for Lobbying and Cyprus in general, in terms of transparency and accountability.
