At the roadblock on Ledras Street, in Nicosia, where they went to cross into the occupied areas of the Republic, they were spotted last night and arrested by members of the Police, the two wanted for an investigated case of theft of a large amount of money, which was committed between last Wednesday and Thursday , in Larnaca. The two suspects, men aged 44 and 34, were taken into custody for the purpose of investigating the case.
The case under investigation concerns the theft of a sum of money from a hotel room in Larnaca, where a man was staying aged 35 years. According to the 35-year-old's complaint, the theft of the amount of money, amounting to 88,400 euros, was committed between Wednesday and Thursday, April 5-6.
Suspicions were raised against the two suspects for the theft of the money, against whom judicial arrest warrants were issued for the purposes of police examinations. Their details and photographs were released by the Police on Friday, April 07, 2023, with the aim of gathering information that could lead to their identification.
Around 9.30 on Friday night, the two wanted suspects, went to the roadblock on Ledras Street, in Nicosia, to cross into the occupied areas of the Republic. In a check carried out by members of the Police serving at the Ledra roadblock, it was found that it was the two wanted suspects, as a result of which they were arrested, pursuant to the court warrants that had been issued against them.
In the investigations that followed of their arrest, an amount of 24,690 euros was found in the possession of the 34-year-old, while an amount of 11,300 euros was found in the possession of the 44-year-old. When interrogated, the two suspects allegedly admitted to the theft of 38,500 euros.
The examinations are continuing at the Oroklinis Police Station.
