State of emergency in several regions of the country

Thousands of homes flooded in Russia due to melting of the ice that washed away major rivers in Europe, resulting in record water levels in the Ural Mountains this year.

According to the Russian Ministry of Emergencies, 10,400 homes across the country received water, while the problem intensifies.

The water level in the Ural River, which originates in the Ural Mountains and flows into the Caspian Sea, rose several meters in a few hours as the ice melted, causing it to break a dam in the city of Orsk, 1,800 km east of Moscow. as reported by APE-MPE.

Flooding phenomena were also reported across Siberia, the Volga and central regions of Russia.

According to the Russian ministry , “over 10,400 homes remain flooded in 39 areas”.
