Three members of the Police on hand for the escape of two detainees

Three members of the Police have been made available for the case of the escape of two persons from their legal detention at the Paphos Police Department, by decision of the Cyprus Police Chief, according to the Spokesman of the Police Headquarters Christos Andreou.

In his statements to KYPE, Mr. Andreou stated that an investigation was ordered to determine the conditions under which the two detainees escaped. He also continued, a police officer was appointed who will investigate the circumstances of their escape.

Mr. Andreou also said that “we will not prejudge the result” but noted, “at first glance there is alleged negligence on the part of some members of the Police and three members of the force have already been made available while the investigation has begun to determine the exact conditions of the escape of the two detainees ”.

According to an announcement by the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, the Police are looking for 28-year-old (Alexandros Sarkisidis) and 34-year-old (Ernai Kozmiov) of Russian origin holders of Greek passports in the context of investigating a case of escape from their legal detention.

According to the announcement, during a check carried out this morning, it was found that the above persons, who were in custody at the Paphos Central Police Station, were absent.

Both are accused of more than forty burglaries.

Paphos Police appeals to the public as anyone who knows anything that can help locate them, to contact the Paphos Police Station at 26806021, or the nearest Police Station, or the Citizen Contact Line at 1460 or online via category “Crime Reporting” in the application and the website of the Cyprus Police.
