Three police officers arrested for threatening Paphos police chief

There are three arrests made by the Police in connection with the investigated case of sending threatening and offensive messages.

According to the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, initially and before today's arrest of the two special constables of the Paphos Police Directorate, aged 41, a 55-year-old man was arrested yesterday with a court order. The 55-year-old, after being charged in writing, was released from custody to be summoned later.

Subsequently, according to the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, a 41-year-old Special Police Officer was arrested for the same case with a court warrant and was detained for investigating a case of threat of violence, written threats, corruption, abuse of power to send abusive and threatening.

This was followed by the arrest of a second special police officer, also aged 41, for the same case, to facilitate the investigations.

Crimes of breach of official secrecy, conspiracy to commit a crime and others are being investigated against him.

The two special police officers are expected to be brought to justice tomorrow for the issuance of their detention orders, while the Chief of Police is awaiting a report of facts based on which he will decide whether or not they will be made available.

Moreover, according to information, the threatening and offensive messages were sent against the Paphos Police Director.

The 55-year-old, who was initially arrested, allegedly named the two special police officers as his accomplices.

The exams are continued by TAE Paphos.
