The Museum of Textile of Drousia is dedicated to the traditional weaving of the villages of the area, contributing in this way to the rescue and promotion of this folk art, while through the exhibits emerges the way of life and the occupations that the inhabitants had in the past. p>
Through the museum one can see the production, processing and application of natural textiles used in the village of Drousia and the surrounding areas, such as cotton, wool and silk, said Giovanna Souroulla, Senior Instructor of Crafts/Handicrafts at KYPE. He also pointed out that through the exhibits one can distinguish the daily needs of the family, the manufacturing styles of the weavers, the clothing, the ways of decoration, the character, the imagination and the mood of the weavers of the area.
In his statements, the president of the Community Council of Drousia, Stelios Koupari stated that at the Museum of Drousia Textile the visitor can admire old clothes and textiles of the village such as embroidery, quilts, clothes and everyday objects of the area. He noted that the exhibits of the Museum of Drousia Textile are sponsored by the residents of the area from their daily activities.
The Museum of Drousia, among others, houses the women's and men's clothing of Cyprus. The female consisted of the shawl, which was worn with a shirt and long shorts, and the male consisted of the belt, the underpants, the shirt, the ham, the vest, the headband and the legs.
Meanwhile the Paphos Tourism Development Company continues its efforts to promote the countryside of the province by creating a promotional film to make the Museum known, according to its Director Nasos Hadjigeorgiou.
In statements to KYPE, Mr. Hadjigeorgiou stated that a fresh approach and professional script execution, using the latest technology in terms of quality, has produced a very comprehensive, quality and effective propulsion tool of 1.5 minutes and one in less than 30 seconds. He adds that every Saturday workshops are organized in Drousia in order to attract tourists.
