The Republic of Cyprus is ranked 5th at the country level and 11th at the city level in Europe, in relation to climate and public transport tickets, according to a recent survey by Greenpeace.

In today's announcement, Cyprus Public Transport says that a Greenpeace survey dealt with thirty European countries and their capitals and analyzed the results based on four criteria, namely the simplicity of the ticketing system, the price of long-term tickets, discounts for socially disadvantaged groups and the VAT rate on public transport tickets.

Cyprus Public Transport notes that the top two positions at country level are held by Luxembourg and Malta, which provide free domestic public transport, and that Nicosia was the only city in Cyprus to be analyzed in the survey.

For Cyprus and public transport, the announcement states, this ranking is an important achievement and proof that our commitment to the Cypriot authorities to offer European-level public transport has borne fruit.
