<p data-block-key=ETEK, as part of its commitment to promote equality in the field of engineering science, held meetings with the Gender Equality Commissioner to conclude a memorandum of cooperation, with the aim of drawing up a joint strategy, policies and actions to promote gender equality in the professions of engineering science, strengthening the visibility of issues related to gender discrimination, as well as strengthening the participation of women in decision-making bodies and positions.

This is stated in a written statement on the occasion of the International Day of Women in Engineering, on June 23, by the President of ETEK Konstantinos Constantis.

In his statement, Mr. Konstantis adds that at the same time, ETEK proceeded to set up a Scientific Committee for Gender Equality, which will monitor the whole issue very closely and with specific suggestions/proposals will be able to contribute to the whole effort.

June 23 has established itself as a global awareness campaign to highlight the outstanding achievements of women in engineering, while offering an important opportunity to “reflect on the importance of equal access and equal opportunities in this critical field,” she adds.

Further thanking women engineers for their valuable contribution to society, she emphasizes that “today, more than ever, we are called to act decisively to eliminate discrimination, ensuring that female engineers have equal opportunities and the advancement that every good professional deserves.”

She adds that “by joining forces, we can build a fairer and more sustainable society”.
