Within the day, the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority will announce the names of the three Greek Cypriot lawyers, who will co-assist the work of the Australian expert, regarding the investigation of the complaints against the former President of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiadis.

As we revealed last Saturday, the experienced lawyer, Gabrielle Louise McIntyre, already came to Cyprus and agreed to take on the role of inspection officer for the said complaint.

Our information indicates that the Transparency Commissioner, Haris Pogiatzis and his close associates at the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority, have already reached the Greek Cypriot lawyers some 24 hours ago and only one obstacle remained to be overcome to formally close the issue and open the way to make their names public.

The information states that these are lawyers, who have the expertise and relevant experience to meet the requirements of the role they are called upon to play. The investigation is expected to develop at a rapid pace.

However, the matter has already been the focus of the media for the last 24 hours. The Blessed Drusiotiswith his post on the “X” platform last Friday he announced that the former President has taken legal action against him and is asking for “the withdrawal of my books, an apology and compensations”. He added that “I reject his requests”, noting among other things that “I consider this move by the former President as an attempt to intimidate me, in view of the upcoming investigation by the Anti-Corruption Authority. There is nothing that can intimidate me. I can't wait to be called before the Authority to document what I record in my book”.

Yesterday, moreover, there were depositions from both sides by Anastasiadis and Drousiotis. The former President in a written statement welcomed the appointment of Gabrielle Louise Mclntyreto investigate the allegations against him, citing false and unsubstantiated allegations of a fabricated fiction implicating him in acts of corruption.

Regarding what Makarios Drousiotis mentioned about his intimidation, the former President notes that this is a new finding by himself in view of his revelations, while indicating that the only thing that should scare him is the truth and what he deliberately and falsely recorded in his books.

He also mentions that Makarios Drousiotis should be afraid of the intentional distortions of texts, contradictory and untrue claims and self-denials, but also the evidence that will be submitted to the Commission and the Court, which demolish his malicious and slanderous lies one by one.

The researcher/journalist also reacted with a written statement stating among other things: “In his statement, the former President states that the only thing that should scare me is the truth. On the contrary, it is the truth that gives me strength and endurance”.
