On Tuesday morning, an autopsy is expected to be carried out on the body of a 7-year-old girl, who ended up in the early hours of Monday at Makarios Hospital, after a drowning incident in a hotel pool in Protaras.
According to Steve Theodoulou. , press representative of the Famagusta Police Department, “the scheduled autopsy, which is expected to reveal the cause of death of the 7-year-old girl, will be carried out around 09.30 tomorrow morning at the Nicosia General Hospital by medical examiner Nikolas Charalambous”.
He added that “so far statements are being taken from the lifeguards who were at the pool, hotel staff and other bystanders. Statements are also expected to be taken from the parents who were at the scene”.
Listing the facts of the case, Mr. Theodoulou said that “at noon on Sunday, August 4, the little girl was found unconscious in a hotel pool in Protaras, where he lived with his parents. The child was pulled out of the pool by bystanders and then taken by ambulance to the Famagusta General Hospital in Paralimni where after being given first aid, she recovered”.
Then “the little girl was taken by ambulance to Makarios Hospital in Nicosia where during his transport, he developed complications resulting in him being intubated and placed on a ventilator.” However, 10 minutes after two in the morning on Monday, the seven-year-old girl died in the Intensive Care Unit of the Makarios Hospital, he said.
The TAE of Famagusta is investigating the circumstances under which the little girl was found unconscious in the hotel swimming pool.
