The trade deficit for the first eleven months of 2021 increased by 9.75%, according to preliminary data released by the Statistical Service on Monday.

According to the preliminary data of the Statistical Service for November “the trade deficit was € 4,799.0 million for the period January – November 2021 compared to € 4,372.6 million in the corresponding period of 2020”.

Specifically, total imports of goods were € 896.4 million compared to € 692.9 million in November 2020, recording an increase of 29.4%. Imports from other EU Member States in November 2021 were € 516.4 million and from third countries € 380.0 million compared to € 395.5 million and € 297.4 million respectively in November 2020.

As mentioned, the imports in November 2021 include the transfer of financial ownership of mobile transport equipment (ships and aircraft), with a total value of € 137.7 million compared to € 111.5 million in November 2020.

It is added that the total exports of goods in November 2021 were € 368.7 million compared to € 147.6 million in November 2020, recording an increase of 149.7%. Exports to other EU Member States in November 2021 were € 98.8 million and to third countries € 269.9 million, compared to € 48.1 million and € 99.5 million respectively in November 2020.

It is clarified that the exports in November 2021 include the transfer of financial ownership of mobile transport equipment (ships and aircraft), with a total value of € 148.4 million compared to € 9.4 million in November 2020.

Also, total imports of goods (from EU Member States and third countries) for the period January – November 2021 were € 7,744.9 million compared to € 6,928.6 million for the period January – November 2020, an increase 11.8%.

At the same time, total exports of goods (to EU Member States and third countries) for the period January – November 2021 were € 2,945.8 million compared to € 2,556.0 million for the period January – November 2020, marking an increase 15.3%.

According to final data for October 2021, total imports of goods (from EU Member States and third countries) were € 714.4 million in October 2021 compared to € 827.4 million in October 2020, down 13.7%.

It is added that exports of domestically produced products, including ship and aircraft supplies, for October 2021 were € 101.0 million compared to € 94.5 million in October 2020, recording an increase of 6.9%. The value of exports of industrial products for October 2021 amounted to € 94.6 million compared to € 88.2 million in October 2020, while the value of exports of agricultural products for October 2021 amounted to € 5.0 million. against € 3.8 million in October 2020.

Also, as mentioned, the exports of foreign products, including the supplies of ships and aircraft, for October 2021 were € 338.9 million compared to € 178.0 million in October 2020, recording an increase of 90.4%.
