Their satisfaction with the vote by the Plenary of the Parliamentof the two bills on the Pension, the Trade Union Organizations OHO (SEK), SIDIKEK (PEO), PASYDY, DEOK, POED, OELMEK, OLTEK, the Association Cyprus Police (SAK) and the Cyprus Firefighters Association (SYPYK), speaking of a “milestone day”, which is “a culmination of a series of intensive and joint efforts”.
The announcement notes that with the passing by the Plenary of the Parliament of the two Pension Bills, the pension benefits of the permanent employees who have been appointed after 1.10.2011, but also of all the Permanent Employees, as well as the Special Police Constables and other categories of employees, thus ensuring the totality of colleagues in the State and Semi-State Sector.
It is established that the new Pension Plan not only contains positive pension provisions for employees, but also ensures the sustainability of public finances, since the plan will operate on the basis of the principle of employer and employee contributions of 5% on both sides, as also applies to already insured government employees.
Finally, the Organizations express their thanks to the Ministry of Finance for his contribution to solving this serious problem, as well as to the Parliament and the public materialist parties, “who, listening to the anguish of thousands of uninsured colleagues, today voted the Bills into Laws”.
