The Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance has decided a travel allowance for the unemployed who participate in HRDA programs.

Specifically, the Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance (YEPKA) and the Cyprus Human Resources Development Authority (HRDA) announced that, following a decision of the Minister of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance and the Board of Directors of HRDA, to the unemployed who will participate in the “Special Vocational Training Plan for the Unemployed in Public and Wider Public Sector Organizations, Local Authorities, Non-Governmental Organizations and Non-Profit Institutions” (hereinafter “the Plan”). The vocational training and work experience programs under the Plan last four months (16 weeks).

Specifically, it was decided that a travel and other expenses allowance of € 5 per day, ie € 25 per week, be paid. In the case of the unemployed who have been placed in another province from their province of residence, this allowance is increased to € 8 per day, ie € 40 per week. The travel and other expenses allowance is in addition to the training allowance which amounts to € 25 per day or € 125 per week. In addition, the HRDA pays the contributions to the Social Insurance Fund, the Social Cohesion Fund and the GESS, in accordance with the provisions of the relevant legislation.
