The Police made two arrests yesterday, in the provinces of Famagusta and Nicosia, for two separate cases of illegal drug possession. A total of 240 grams of cannabis and a cannabis plant were seized from the two cases.
In the province of Famagusta, around 5 p.m. yesterday, YKAN members stopped a car, driven by a 36-year-old man, on a road in Paralimni for a check. A precision scale and three packages containing cannabis with a total gross weight of 9 grams were found and confiscated in the 36-year-old's possession. As a result, the 36-year-old was arrested for a self-inflicted crime.
A search followed at his home where a number of packages containing cannabis with a total gross weight of approximately 218 grams and a hand-made cigarette containing cannabis were also located and seized.
The 36-year-old was taken into custody to facilitate investigations.
YKAN (Famagusta District Unit) is investigating the case.
Additionally, in Nicosia province, around 5 p.m. . Yesterday, members of the National Security Agency conducted a search, pursuant to a court warrant, at the home of a 53-year-old man.
During the search, a cultivated cannabis plant, approximately 70 centimeters high, was located and seized, as well as a quantity of cannabis, with a gross weight of 13 approximately grams.
The 53-year-old was taken to the offices of the YCAN (Nicosia Provincial Level) where, after being questioned in writing, he was released pending scientific tests.
The YCAN (Nicosia Provincial Level) is investigating the case.
