Several cases of motorcycle theft and car theft are being investigated, which were committed recently in the capital, after the relevant admission of two minors, aged 13 and 15, who were found riding a motorcycle, last night in Nicosia.
Specifically, according to an announcement by the Police, around 11 p.m. Yesterday, a police patrol spotted a motorcycle riding on Limassol Avenue on which three young people were riding, who were not wearing helmets, while its traffic lights were off.
The members of the Police signaled to the driver to stop for control, however the young people left the motorcycle on the ground and ran trying to escape.
According to the announcement, the police followed them, as a result of which one of them was stopped at a short distance. It was established that this is a 15-year-old man, who was arrested for a self-inflicted crime, after in his attempt to escape he kicked and caused damage to a police patrol.
It is also reported that a few minutes later, a second 13-year-old minor was found on the roof of an adjacent apartment building, who was allegedly the driver of the motorcycle, which was found to have been reported to the Police as a theft on February 7, 2021.
The two young men were taken to the Nicosia Central Police Station, where statements were taken in the presence of their mothers.
According to the Police, the two allegedly admitted to committing a number of motorcycle thefts and car thefts in the province of Nicosia.
After receiving the statements, the 13-year-old, due to his young age, left the Police Station, while the 15-year-old was taken into custody, to facilitate the investigations.
The Nicosia Central Police Station continues the examinations.
