UNDP agreement with ALIPH for church and mosque restoration projects in Cyprus

The International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas (ALIPH) will work with the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage and the Development Program of United Nations (UNDP) under the auspices of the Office of the Special Adviser of the UN Secretary-General for Cyprus for conservation projects of two cultural heritage monuments in Cyprus.
According to a UNDP press release , these are the Church of St. George of the Latins in Famagusta and the Tuzla Mosque in Larnaca.
Conservation work will be carried out by UNDP within the framework of the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage in Support of Peace and Confidence Building in Cyprus. This initiative marks the first collaboration between ALIPH, the Technical Committee and UNDP. The project is co-financed by the European Union. It is noted that since 2010 over 100 projects have been completed across the island.
As reported, an event was organized to sign the funding of $840,335.29 from ALIPH to UNDP for this project.< /p>
