US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has condemned the “heinous violence” of Myanmar security forces during a deadly crackdown on protesters.
“We stand firmly with the courageous people of Burma and encourage all nations to speak with one voice in support of their will,” he wrote on Twitter. The United States “will continue to hold those responsible accountable.”
Myanmar security forces opened fire on protesters, killing at least 18 people in the country's deadliest crackdown on protesters since the February 1 military coup.
