According to an announcement by the Ministry of Health, another 3,960 appointments for vaccination against COVID-19 will be available to citizens from tomorrow, January 11, 2021, through the Vaccination Portal. Citizens who fall into the second phase of the program, people over 80 years old, will be able to arrange their appointments online, themselves or with the help of people from their home environment. The appointments will concern vaccinations that will take place in the week of January 18-22, 2021 .
Vaccinations are continued based on the vaccination plan and based on the availability of vaccines, since the strategy of the Ministry of Health focuses on the immediate administration of available vaccines .
It is noted that since the start of the vaccination program on December 27, 2020, until today, a total of 6,035 vaccinations have been performed , while appointments are scheduled for the administration of the 2nd dose.
At a time when the Health System has to cope with the increased hospitalization of COVID-19 patients, the prioritization that is aimed, on the one hand, at protecting vulnerable groups of the population and consequently at reducing the admission of COVID-19 patients to hospitals and, on the other hand, in the shielding and smooth operation of the Health System with the gradual coverage of the health professionals of the first line, both of OKYPY and of the private sector.
The fact that the vulnerable groups were first on the list of the Vaccination Plan in relation to the strong willingness of the public in Cyprus to be vaccinated further strengthens the national effort to get out of the health crisis.
It is recalled that the vaccinations are carried out by 11 teams of health professionals in a total of eight Vaccination Centers operating throughout Cyprus. Specifically, the vaccinations are carried out in the Vaccination Centers that operate for Nicosia in the Health Centers of Latsia and the Old Hospital of Nicosia, for Limassol in the Health Centers of the Old Hospital of Limassol and of the Hospital of Troodos, for Larnaca in Aarna, in Larnaca for A Hospital of the city, while for Paphos at the General Hospital of Paphos and at the Hospital of Polis Chrysochous.
Regarding the support of the citizens for the arrangement of appointments, the citizens can contact the following call centers, as follows:
- 17000 – For information of a technical nature during an appointment from the Gesy Portal.
- 1474 – To arrange an appointment, in case despite the above the citizen continues to face difficulties
It is also noted that the Vaccination Portal provides the possibility of arranging appointments by Personal Physicians.
