In view of the expected licensing of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in March and according to the information from the manufacturers, it is expected that in March more than 160,000 doses of the three vaccines will be sent to Cyprus, with the flow increasing in the 2nd quarter of the year.
The total orders for vaccines in Cyprus amount to 3.5 million doses, ie for 1.7 million people.
The initial distribution of vaccines by companies that had contracted with the EU was determined based on the population of each country. But then Cyprus exercised its right to purchase additional quantities. Therefore, according to the data of the Ministry of Health, the orders made from Cyprus for the three vaccines that are licensed by the European Medicines Agency amount to 2.312 doses, ie for 1.15 million people.

The remaining orders concern vaccines from Sanofi-GSK, Johnson & Johnson, CureVac, with which the EU has concluded agreements.
Vaccinations are carried out in nine Vaccination Centers in all Provinces, from a total of 20 workshops. There are two large Vaccination Centers in operation, in the State Exhibition, Nicosia, and in the Sports Center “Spyros Kyprianou” in Limassol with a capacity of 15 and 10 workshops respectively. This week, Vaccination Centers in Paphos and Larnaca will start operating, with a capacity of seven workshops each. With the full development of Vaccination Centers, up to 15,000 vaccinations per day could be performed.
