The agreement for the sale of the cruise ship Salamis Filoxenia was announced on Wednesday at the CSE by the company Salamis Tours. According to a relevant announcement, its wholly owned subsidiary Mana Shipping, owner of Salamis Filoxenia, has signed an agreement for the sale of the ship. The counterparty is Prime Spot Ship Trading, headquartered in the United Arab Emirates. The sale price amounts to $ 4.1 million and a deposit of 15% has been received so far, while the remaining amount will be collected upon completion of the agreement and delivery of the ship to the buyers. The profit from the sale of the ship amounts to € 1.55 million and will affect the company's results in 2022.

As reported, due to the pandemic, the cruise ship did not cruise in 2020 and 2021, remaining anchored in the port of Limassol until today and, in view of the uncertainty about the evolution of the pandemic, the group decided to proceed with its sale. The agreement is expected to be completed within the current month, with the delivery of the ship to the buyers. As noted, in due course the group is expected to evaluate all parameters regarding the possibility of purchasing a new cruise ship.

The history of its acquisition

Recall that on July 2, 2009 Salamis Tours (Holdings) Public Ltd announced to the Cyprus Stock Exchange that it had proceeded with the purchase of the cruise ship Van Gogh (now Salamis Filoxenia) for the amount of $ 7,500,000, with the funding coming as noted then, from the existing cash of the group, without the conclusion of new loans. This purchase was the most important renewal of the fleet of the Salamis group and was made in the context of the implementation of the fleet upgrade policy, with the addition of cruise ships that meet the requirements of the traveling public but also in line with the policy of providing a high level of services. .

Its characteristics

The cruise ship Salamis Filoxenia has nine decks, has a capacity of 15,400 tons, with a length of 157 and a width of 22 meters. It was built in Finland in 1975 and was rebuilt in 1999. It can accommodate up to eight hundred passengers in luxury suites and comfortable cabins of various categories. All cabins are located above sea level, with the majority of cabins being external, with all modern personal comforts. Public areas of the ship include spacious lounges, five bars, a discotheque, a 140-seat amphitheater, which can also be used for conferences, an adult pool and a children's pool, a large casino, a duty-free gift shop, a gym, a sauna, activities for children.

D eal for Aretaio ?

After the Apollonian private hospital in Nicosia, the American investment fund CVC Capital set its sights on the acquisition of Aretaio Hospital, submitting an official proposal to its shareholders. The offer, according to reliable sources, is close to € 50 million and is viewed positively by the majority of shareholders of Aretaio.

Aretaio Hospital is located at Andrea Avraamidi Street in Dasoupoli, Nicosia. It was founded in 2006 by 42 medical shareholders, with the sole purpose of offering a high level of health services and their continuous upgrade. It has 70 patient beds, four major surgeries and one smaller one, all of which are fully equipped. The hospital contains two basements, the ground floor and three more floors, covering around 12,000 square meters, offering almost all medical specialties and laboratory types.

New important projects in Dali

Important projects, which are expected to add even more value to the Municipality of Idali, are planned for the coming years. Some of the works will take place in the Parish of Panagia Evangelistria and others in the Parish of Saints Constantine and Helen. Specifically, it is expected that by the end of 2022 beginning of 2023 the bypass road of the Idali core will be offered, which will lead to Halkanoros Avenue, the cost of which is expected to exceed € 8 million. At the same time, studies have begun for Landscaping of the Konstantinidis house, opposite the sanctuary of Agios Andronikos, while within 2022 it is expected to promote the renovation of Foti Pitta streets to the 1st Primary School of Idali, Georgios Eikosari and Agios Andronikos. Finally, in the Parish of Saints Constantine and Helen, the construction of a road for access to and from Nea Ledra is planned. In this way there will be a second entrance – exit to and from Nea Ledra, while those who choose to use this road will avoid crossing the bridge under the Nicosia – Limassol highway.

We bought the cars in January

A decrease of 21.4% compared to the corresponding period last year, recorded in January the registrations of saloon passenger cars in Cyprus, falling to 2,147, compared to 2,732 in January 2021. Of the total number of vehicles registered, 1111 or 51.7 % were new cars, while 1036 or 48.3% used.
