Registrations in the first quarter of the year saw a significant increase of 23.4%
Total motor vehicle registrations increased by 6.3% in April 2023, reaching 2,987, compared to 2,810 in April 2022, while registrations in the first quarter of the year saw a significant increase of 23.4%.
Specifically, according to the Statistical Service, in April 2023 registrations of passenger saloon cars increased by 1.5% to 2,282, from 2,249 in April 2022.
Regarding total vehicle registrations by in the period January-April 2023, compared to the corresponding period in 2022, these increased by 23.4% and reached 13,180, compared to 10,682 during the same period in 2022.
Registrations of passenger saloon cars increased by 22.2% to 10,546, compared to 8,631 in the corresponding period of 2022.
According to the Statistical Service, of the total number of passenger saloon cars, 4,784 or 45 .4% were new and 5,762 or 54.6% were used cars. Rental cars in particular saw a 25.3% increase to 1,717.
Bus registrations rose to 68 in the January-April 2023 period, up from 44 in the same period in 2022.
In addition, registrations of cargo vehicles increased to 1,332 in January-April 2023, compared to 1,119 in the corresponding period of 2022, an increase of 19.0%. Specifically, light trucks increased by 16.6% to 1,044, heavy trucks by 51.4% to 165 and road tractors (trailers) by 85.0% to 37, while rental vehicles decreased by 9.5% to 86.
Finally, moped registrations < 50km fell to 35 in January-April 2023, compared to 106 in the same period in 2022, while motorcycle registrations > 50cm increased by 54.8% to 1,031 in January-April 2023, compared to 666 in the same period in 2022.
