The scene caught fire after the official placement of the deputy chairman of DISY Haris Georgiadis in Parliament, that his party wants changes in the GESS and the statement of the president of EDEK Marinos Sizopoulos, that he will submit a bill to amend the legislation governing the operation of the system.
The war broke out on the internet on Monday night, when representatives and members of the scientific committee of the OSAK warned in their posts that they would not accept changes that would alter the philosophy and architecture of the System. Early yesterday morning, the spirits were sharpened, when their appearance was posted by the former and former Ministers of Health, Konstantinos Ioannou and Giorgos Pamporidis, who stated that they would face anyone who tries to change the GESS. George Pamporidis, in fact, called on Harry Georgiadis to take a clear position on the issue, with the result that the vice president of DISY raised his glove and followed against high tones among the three.

Of course, Haris Georgiadis, meanwhile, started coming under fire from several social media users and the controversy culminated at noon, when the president of EDEK launched an attack against the former Minister of Health, talking about expediency by Giorgos Pamporides and both against Konstantinos Ioannou and against the president of OSAK.
On the substance of the matter, the president of DISY Averof Neophytou, after a meeting he had with the patients' federation, and because of what was unfolding on the internet, was forced to correct the image formed after the placements of Haris Georgiadis in Parliament, saying that his party is not going to proceed with an amendment of the legislation that would alter either the philosophy or the architecture of GESS. However, a relevant position was followed by the Government, in an attempt to overlap, once again, the existence of two schools in the government camp in relation to the GESS, with the Minister of Health Michalis Hadjipandelas, also making a similar statement and proposing the firm, as he characterized it, position of the President of the Republic for any alteration of the System.
The attack on Haris Georgiadis and Marinos Sizopoulos began when the president of the Organized Patients, Marios Kouloumas, wrote on his personal Twitter account:

However, there are many questions when this is done by DISY after the statement of Anastasiadis that leaves no doubt: “the legislation above my corpse will change”.
The reaction of the former and former Ministers of Health was immediate, with Konstantinos Ioannou writing: “Dear Marie, whoever attempts changes in the philosophy of GESS, will find us opposite” and George Pamporidis to add:
“If indeed Haris Georgiadis said yesterday to the Finance Committee that DISY, if necessary, has no problem changing the philosophy of GESS, then you know why. Give everyone our greetings. They will find us opposite again. At GESS we will ALL be counted. Hands down”.
The answer of Haris Georgiadis was not long in coming, since the vice president of DISY, referring to what he said on Monday morning, wrote: “DISY is in favor of specific changes that we do not consider to change the philosophy of GESS. As for how to pay personal doctors, for example, who are paid per capita. We believe that those who receive patients should be paid, not the one who has his phone turned off. “This is an example of change.”
The discussion was continued by George Pamporidis who, responding to a Twitter user comment on the legislation governing the operation of GESS, pointed out: “Tell these to those who do not know the legislation. I wrote it, my lord / lady. And what I am saying is clear: Whoever hurts the GESS will find the people opposite. If it suits you, try it “.
The former Minister of Health, of course, was severely attacked at noon by the president of EDEK Marino Sizopoulos, who speaking to OMEGA and referring to George Pamporidis, said that “his responsibilities are huge because the expediencies he served are known”. Commenting on the posts of Konstantinos Ioannou and Marios Kouloumas, he said that “they all have a huge responsibility for the current situation in GESS. “Our goal is to serve the citizen.”
In fact, Marinos Sizopoulos received fire on a personal level via the internet, when the member of the scientific committee of the Patients' Federation, Christos Petrou, wrote: But he decided to make a “Botox” bill and give himself the right to prescribe within the system! At the suggestion to Haris Georgiadis about his intention for changes in the way of remuneration of the personal doctors, the chairman of the scientific committee of OSAK Konstantinos Tsioutis proceeded from his side, writing: “Some” forget “that OAU has already prepared a plan to restore the 70% (per capita) / 30% with quality criteria in the P.I. fees, as * provided * by the original bill. The cyber war that broke out against DISY, after the placements of Haris Georgiadis in Parliament on Monday, essentially forced the Government and the ruling party to reaffirm their position.
In fact, the president of DISY, who had a scheduled meeting with the Federation of Patients' Associations of Cyprus yesterday morning, made, as reported by “F”, huge efforts to convince the representatives of organized patients that his party is not going to proceed no modification or change that will alter the philosophy and architecture of GESS.
“Today, together with my colleagues, we visited, as was our promise, the Cyprus Patients' Federation” said Averof Neophytou and addressing the president of OSAK, he added: “And because, dear Marie, we consider it a maximum social obligation to keep the health system healthy and its finances to be sustainable, while on the one hand it is our common position that there is no question of changing philosophy and architecture together, we found heaps of bad practices, problems that we will never allow through an image that no one will touch anything, will let some experts who take advantage of the system pose problems for the quality of the services offered but also for their viability “.
Trying to explain what Haris Georgiadis had said in Parliament regarding the manner of remuneration of personal doctors, the president of DISY said that “there must be an arrangement, part of the remuneration must be related to the service he provides, to it is also interesting to quickly make an appointment with his patient, to take care of his patient. We are here in collaboration with the Patient Federation to protect the Cypriot patient. For us, the Cypriot patient is paramount. And when we say law enforcement, we mean it. “Without changing the philosophy and architecture, to fully implement the law and to combat phenomena of either exploitation or bad practices, because it is a pity that what was built was ruined by some experts”.
For his part, the president of OSAK Marios Kouloumas stated after the meeting that “the law of the General Health System regarding its philosophy and architecture does not change, what needs to be changed and improved is the implementation of the General System Health where and where these huge problems occur that affect the Cypriot patient, they must be resolved and everyone should understand and doctors and all providers and the Health Insurance Organization that we must now promote measures to improve services provided by our Health System “.
Regarding the personal doctors, Marios Kouloumas pointed out that “there must be a mixed system which is determined in the design of GESS, determines 70% -30% in the way of remuneration of doctors, which has never been implemented. So this is what we say and we completely agree with Mr. Averof Neophytou, that the legislation must be implemented as well. This is what we ask for and this is the cooperation and the struggle that we will do together “, he concluded.
