Further facilitation of trips to Cyprus from abroad for those who have been vaccinated but also for the sick provides the new protocol of operation of the destination approved yesterday by the Council of Ministers and will enter into force on March 1.
The protocol, which has long been requested by the Ministry of Tourism, slightly changes the categorization of countries after the orange category is abolished, while among the changes decided is the abolition of the special travel permit for Cyprus for those from gray countries. as long as they are vaccinated.
The decision of the Council of Ministers was announced after yesterday's meeting of the House by the Minister of Transport Giannis Karousos, noting that the action plan for the smooth conduct of flights and the operation of airports, was submitted to the Ministry by his ministry, following a decision of the Interministerial Committee set up to evaluate the measures in force in the light of the epidemiological data of the period. As he said, the new plan will enter into force on March 1 and until then the existing measures will continue to be applied at the two airports.

The new protocol as well as the existing one exclude quarantine for those arriving from the green and red category – today also from the orange category – but also for passengers from the gray category if they are vaccinated or have recovered from covid – 19. It also ensures that will be able to enter the island and not vaccinated by presenting diagnostic tests, as provided for each category. It is also the obligation of all passengers to complete the CyprusFlightPass, within 48 hours before the start of their journey. In short, as Mr. Karousos said yesterday, the new protocol provides, among other things:
• From 1 March, the categorization of countries based on their epidemiological risk is differentiated and will include three categories with the following color code: green, red and gray.
Vaccinated or recovering passengers, regardless of nationality and country of departure, are exempted from the obligation to produce a negative laboratory test result, self-restriction or quarantine and to issue a special permit. It is understood that these individuals must hold a valid vaccination or recovery certificate. In connection with the certificates of recovery, European or equivalent equivalents from other countries related to the European digital certificate are accepted.
