    The Ministry of Education firmly supports the universal values ​​of Francophonie and implements policies to promote multilingualism, with the French language already becoming a vibrant and dynamic language in Cyprus, said the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Athina Michailidou

    In her greeting at the official dinner organized as part of the celebrations for “Francophonie Month 2024” at the 3rd TESEK Limassol, the Minister said that since the establishment of the International Organization of Francophonie in 1970, the borders of the French-speaking area have expanded and include peoples and nations from all over the world.

    “Gathering today 88 member states and representing a population of more than 320 million people who speak French on five continents, Francophonie is much more than just a linguistic community. It is a community of cooperation, based on the values ​​of equality, complementarity and solidarity, which seeks to promote cultural and linguistic diversity and mutual respect, which supports education and scientific research, culture, youth and sustainable development& #8221; added.

    He referred to the expansion of the teaching of the French language in all grades of secondary education, in Cyprus the widespread implementation of the certification of the French language in the public school, the participation of Cyprus in the reception program of language assistants and the teaching of French in all unified full-day primary schools schools.

    These policies, he said, are part of our holistic planning and our continuous effort to offer quality education for all and sundry, as well as to transition to the modern, democratic and inclusive school, which is our main priority.

    < p>The Minister said that gastronomy, a form of culture par excellence, is much more than a simple eating process, “it is an art where flavors, colors and aromas are harmonized to create a unique sensory experience, the which overcomes language barriers and expresses the history, traditions, know-how and values ​​of a country's society”.

    “Participating in a breakfast, lunch or dinner, is a moment of pleasure and sociability, which promotes exchange, cooperation and intercultural dialogue, while at the same time enabling the creation of bonds between fellow scholars. Precisely for this reason, I am sure that tonight's celebration will significantly contribute to the further strengthening and reinforcement of the already existing synergies and partnerships for the benefit of the French language and Francophonie in our country, said the Minister.
