Innovative digital solutions based on Blockchain technology (“array chain”) are implemented by the Municipality of Limassol. Responding to the requirements of the new technological age, the Municipality in collaboration with Yellow Applications, an authorized representative of Block.co, has installed a number of innovative applications for the electronic issuance of documents and the verification of authenticity.
This innovative application allows the automation of processes and consequently the improvement of the quality of service of the citizen in a digital environment. This is the first step in a comprehensive plan to introduce applications for the digital transformation of Limassol into a “Smart City”.
“It is very important that, in the midst of the pandemic and despite the restrictive measures, the Municipality of Limassol continues to upgrade the quality of services to citizens,” said Mayor Nikos Nikolaidis. “We have managed to simplify various tasks and improve the functionality of services, saving time and increasing the productivity of the municipal machine. “Our effort will continue so that Limassol fully complies with the needs of the modern era”, added the Mayor of the city.
“The Municipality of Limassol is always a pioneer and it is with great pleasure that we participate in the implementation of this project, which introduces innovative applications in Blockchain technology. The decision of the Municipality to entrust us with the study and installation of such a system honors us especially “, said Mr. Marios Diogenous, General Manager of Yellow Applications who thanked the Municipal Councilor Marina Hatzimanoli for her support. He also pointed out that “Blockchain-based technologies are something new and you consider the most innovative and innovative there is today in the field of information technology. A technology that is expected to become an integral part of our lives in the coming years. “
The first phase of the application of Blockchain technology in the Municipality of Limassol covers the automated issuance of marriage certificates, where all newlyweds, in addition to receiving a printed certificate, will also receive a copy in electronic format (PDF). In the near future, other certificates and licenses of the Municipality will be issued in the same way and generally any document can be issued digitally.
