Clarification of the Ministry of Labor regarding maternity leave and when it will be valid.
Specifically, the Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance informs, in accordance with the provisions of the Maternity Protection (Amending) Law of 2021 (Law 167 (I) / 2021) and the Law on Social Insurance (Amending) (No. 3) of 2021 (L.168 (I) / 2021), which were published in the Official Gazette of the Republic, with no. 4857 and date. 5/11/2021, mothers who are on maternity leave during the week ending on Sunday 7 November 2021, that maternity leave is increased, by 4 weeks, if it is a second childbirth or the acquisition of a second child by adoption or by surrogate mother , and by 8 weeks, if it is a third or subsequent birth or the acquisition of a third or later child by adoption or by surrogate mother.
The corresponding maternity allowance will continue to be paid to the mother, in accordance with the provisions of the Social Security Laws of
2010-2021, if she continues to be on maternity leave for these additional periods.
It is pointed out that in these cases it is NOT required to submit a new application to the Social Insurance Services, to continue the payment of maternity allowance.
