White House: 'Urgent Need' for Gaza Ceasefire Agreement

He added that Hamas was responsible for the deaths of the hostages.</p> <p>Kirby said Washington was working on a proposal that would lead to the release of the remaining hostages and would include an end to the fighting and the delivery of significant humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. He noted that there is still no timetable for the official presentation of this proposal.</p> <p> "We remain in consultations with Qatar, Egypt and Israel, and of course Qatar and Egypt are in contact with the Hamas», he said.</p> <p> US President Joe Biden said on Monday that the Israeli Prime Minister must do more to reach a peace deal.</p> <p> State Department spokesman Matthew Miller also today asked all sides to show "flexibility" to finalize an agreement. “Dozens of hostages remain in Gaza, always waiting for a deal to return home. It is time to implement this agreement. The Israeli population cannot wait any longer.
