Mr. Patrikis takes over the position of his predecessor Mr. Giorgos Papanastasiou, after his appointment as Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry.

VTT Vasiliko Ltd (VTTV) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Thanos Patrikis as the new General Manager with effect from 1 March 2023. Mr. Patrikis takes over from his predecessor, Mr. Giorgos Papanastasiou, following the appointment of as Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry.

Mr. Patrikis is a Chemical Engineer and holds an M.Sc. and MBA. He has many years of experience in Technical and Commercial departments and was a key member of the VTTV management team, as Commercial Director, for the last four and a half years. He has previously worked in various multinational companies such as Coca-Cola 3E and BP, taking positions of responsibility in countries in Europe, the Middle East and the Far East.

VTTV is a 100% subsidiary of the VTTI B.V. group. headquartered in Rotterdam, one of the world's fastest growing groups in the energy and chemical storage and handling sector, with 17 terminals in 15 countries offering over 10 million cubic meters of capacity. The facilities of VTTV are located in the area of ​​the Vasilikos Energy Center and are one of the largest terminals for the storage and management of energy products in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region. The terminal began its operation in November 2014 and is the largest direct foreign investment in the energy sector in Cyprus amounting to 300 million euros, with 28 storage tanks for energy products and a privately owned wharf with four berths for tankers.

Jose Luis Garcia, Executive Vice President Operations of the VTTI Group, expressed confidence that the new General Manager with the support of the management team and all VTTV staff, is ideally placed to lead the terminal into this new phase corporate development. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of the VTTV terminal in Cyprus for the VTTI Group, given its position in the Eastern Mediterranean and the growth prospects in this dynamic region.

For his part, Mr. Thanos Patrikis stated that “it is a great honor but also a great responsibility to be at the helm of one of the largest and most important companies operating in Cyprus. I will do my best to meet expectations so that VTTV maintains its leading role in the energy sector in the Eastern Mediterranean, with an eye on sustainable development, environmental sensitivity and support of the local community, but also aiming for business development through the energy transition to greener forms of energy” he added.
