In the 18 categories of citizens entitled to the special pricing – Starts from November 1st
To support the vulnerable groups, according to Ms. Papadopoulou, their bill is 20% cheaper than the normal ones, through the imposition of a special fee on electricity bills.
The beneficiaries of the electricity tariff with code 08 are increasing following a decision by the Minister of Energy, Giorgos Papanastasiou, from November 1, 2023. Therefore, the categories entitled to cheaper electricity are increasing to eighteen.
Speaking to “K”, the Press Representative of the Cyprus Electricity Authority, Christina Papadopoulou, explained that the beneficiaries are determined by state decisions, which the EAC is required to implement.
The categories
- Recipients of public assistance from the Social Welfare Services of Yf. of Social Welfare
- EEE beneficiaries
- Family with three or many children receiving child benefit for three or more dependent children
- Recipients of the severe motor disability allowance
- Recipients of the care allowance for paraplegics
- Recipients of the care allowance for quadriplegic persons
- Recipients of the allowance for blood purifiers kidney patients
- Recipients of the special grant for the blind
- Patients who are entitled to a special monthly pension
- Perineal dialysis kidney patients
- Persons who suffer from multiple sclerosis (multiple sclerosis)
- People who have had a heart transplant
- People with active Megalakria
- People with active Cushing's disease
- People with active Phaeochromocytoma
- Patients with a permanent tracheostomy
- Patients with a primary or metastatic tumor of the Central Nervous System (brain and spinal cord)

For the submission of the application, the Spokesperson explained that the application form for special pricing is posted on the EAC website, which citizens can fill out and submit to the Electricity Authority.
The Mrs. Papadopoulou noted that the beneficiaries are registered in the Central Information Repository of the state, information which is determined by the Deputy Ministry of Welfare and the OAU. The EAC, having access to the system, can confirm the details of the applicants and apply the special pricing.
