“Winter” home tourism plan – Details

An extension for the Domestic Tourism Support Plan was announced by the Ministry of Tourism, and will continue until the end of March 2022, offering the opportunity to our vaccinated compatriots for subsidized vacations and overnight stays, in the context of strengthening domestic tourism and the hotel industry, which continues to of the pandemic.

Specifically, in order to continue the strengthening of domestic tourism for the benefit of the public, entrepreneurs and those employed in the tourism industry, the Council of Ministers decided to extend the “Domestic Tourism Support Plan”, for the period from 1 December 2021 until March 31, 2022.

Based on the Decision, Hotels and Tourist Accommodations (Organized Apartments, Tourist Villages, Agritourism Accommodations) and Tourist Offices can participate in the Plan, which can offer a maximum price of 70 euros (including VAT) for a double room, with breakfast, per day, with a minimum stay of two nights. The Decision also provides for the coverage of 25% of the accommodation costs by the State Department.

It is noted that beneficiaries of the Plan for the period from December 1, 2021 until the 31st

March are all permanent residents on the island over 16 years old who:

They have been vaccinated with both doses (including Johnson & Johnson vaccine) or

They have recovered from the virus up to 180 days before staying in the accommodation.

People 12 to 15 years of age should have been vaccinated with both doses (including the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) or have a 72-hour rapid rapid test. There is no restriction for people under 12 years old.

Businesses wishing to participate in the above Plan can submit a relevant application to the Ministry of Tourism. More details about the Plan, as well as a statement of participation, can be obtained from the corporate website of the State Department www.tourism.gov.cy (announcements column).

The deadline for submitting an application to participate in the Project is Monday, November 22, 2021 at 13.00. It is emphasized that applications for participation that will be submitted late will not be accepted.

CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATION IN TOURIST ACCOMMODATION

The project will include:

Hotels and Tourist Accommodations (Organized Apartments, Tourist Villages, Agritourism Accommodations) and Tourist Offices, which can offer:

Maximum price 70 euros, including VAT for a double room, with breakfast per day for the period from 1 December 2021 until 31 March 2022.

A list will be compiled with the Hotels and Tourist Accommodations that will participate. The list to be compiled will include the declared prices per accommodation as well as clarifications regarding the charge for:

Children 0-2 years old.

Children 3-12 years old living in the same room with their parents.

People over 13 years old staying in the same room.

BENEFICIARIES

Beneficiaries of the Plan are all permanent residents of the island, who:

(j) 16 years and older:

. Have been vaccinated with both doses (including the vaccine)

Johnson & Johnson) or Have recovered from the virus up to 180 days before their stay in

accommodation.

(ii) 12 to 15 years of age: Have been vaccinated with both doses (including Johnson & Johnson vaccine) or have a negative 72-hour rapid test.

(iii) Under 12 years of age: There are no restrictions.

Minimum stay 2 nights per room.

CHOICE OF TOURIST ACCOMMODATION

The beneficiaries will be able to choose the tourist accommodation of their choice from the relevant list which will be compiled by the Ministry. Reservations in tourist accommodation will be made by the beneficiaries themselves, from the start date of the Plan.

The companies must inform the State Department on a weekly basis with a relevant form for the planned arrivals, for the purposes of planning, control and calculation by the State Department of the planned expenditure.

The Ministry of Tourism will not be involved in booking issues. Reservations will be made by the beneficiaries or tour operators who represent them.

The Ministry of Tourism will not be involved in advance payments for accommodation bookings. Beneficiaries will be required upon arrival at the tourist accommodation to provide the entrepreneur with a photocopy of identity card, passport and / or other document proving the permanent residence address of the beneficiary. Photocopies of ID cards will be kept in the accommodation file for each check.

PAYMENT ARRANGEMENT

The amount of the subsidy to be paid by the Ministry of Tourism will correspond to 25% of the overnight price per room stated by the accommodation, as stated during the application process for the total overnight stay, with a minimum stay of 2 nights per room.

The participating companies will receive 75% of the declared price from each tourist accommodation from the beneficiary. The remaining amount (25%) will be submitted to the State Department for repayment along with the special form that will be available from the State Department (beneficiary statement), which will show the signature, details of the beneficiary and the address of permanent residence. Invoices must be sent to the State Department for payment within 10 days from the date of the stay.
