With the use of various technologies, the free province of Famagusta is supported and promoted around the world, Christos Zannettou, Mayor of Ayia Napa and President of the Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP) of the free province of Famagusta, told KYPE.
Mr. Zannetou stated that "within 2022 a comprehensive action plan for the entire province was implemented. Through the action plan, the Company will fully absorb the indicated funds, i.e. in the order of 230 thousand euros, an amount which is distributed by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism equally to all ETAPs of Cyprus.
Through the actions of the specific fund, he added, "Communities and Municipalities were subsidized for the creation of open spaces for instrumental gymnastics, utilization and upgrading of playgrounds. , sports facilities, small landscaping projects and generally small projects that are connected to the local community and upgrade our product as a whole.
He also mentioned that «for the first time we proceeded to digital projection /digital marketing at a global level, for the entire province of Famagusta, promoting both the beaches and unique experiences of the region's hinterland, which a visitor from Cyprus and abroad can enjoy.
According to him, "the main objective of the digital promotion is to inform the world on a global basis but mainly in traditional and new tourist markets about the unique beauties of the free province of Famagusta, thus supporting the efforts of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism for the promotion of Cyprus».
Asked about the online application, Mr. Zannettou replied that "we created the online application called ayianapaprotaras, through which anyone, from wherever they are, can visit, to look for various experiences and facilities both before and during his vacation.
"This particular application is important since it gives the possibility to provide information as well as guidance through an online map for the final destination of the visitor wherever he wishes to visit" he said and noted that information on hotel units and restaurants will soon be added to the application.
The President of ETAP Famagusta also mentioned that an “interactive tour/360 Virtual tour” was prepared, where through an interactive-digital tour of the province, through real images, a visitor can locate and see images and reference points in each of the nine entities of the province. At the same time, there is a 3D tour of specific places such as the Church of the Transfiguration in Sotira.
He also noted that "by scanning a dynamic QR code, both the digital application and the interactive display, a person will be able to share information related to the free province of Famagusta».
This application, he said, is a smart, easy and effective way to connect to a pool of information related to the province for facilitation of every visitor and at the same time the promotion not only of the coastal Municipalities but of the inland, giving huge development prospects in the long-term future through a different approach.
Mr. Zannettu expressed satisfaction because as he explained "we have already submitted a corresponding action plan for 2023 and we believe that with the actions implemented in 2022, we will manage to achieve even better results through a more diversified approach to the operation of ETAP Famagusta".
As the President of ETAP he said he was satisfied "because through these actions, we put the province in another and new order of things, in a database where the projection will be constantly upgraded, using the most modern technology and through a pioneering process”.
At the same time, he thanked all the members of the Board of Directors and especially the marketing committee of ETAP since through cooperation and great efforts we managed to achieve a very satisfactory result.
